PARENTS SHOULD ACT AS BROKERS FOR MARRIAGE, NOT PRIME PARTICIPANTS – POPULAR ENTREPRENUER TELLS COUPLES

Serial entrepreneur and producer of popular swagger shito, has said in an interview that parents should act as brokers of marriages and should not be allowed to grow into prime participants.

Speaking to Prime morning show host Jay Foley, Mr. Oteng explained that the core role of parents, is to negotiate and bring their wards together as a couple. That ends their role. According to him, parents have no other part to play in the marriage, especially in meddling and interfering in the marital affairs of their wards.

“parents are just like brokers; they arrange the marriage, afterwards, they must learn to stay away”

According to him, many of the challenges faced by couples have been because they (the couple) allow their in-laws to interfere in their marriage. Parents are sometimes protective of their wards and assuming that some mistakes could be avoided, tend to rather cause more harm than the good they intend.

“It is imperative that couples make their own mistakes, fight their own struggles, and carve for themselves a path they deem fit in unison”

He also admonished parents, especially mother-in-laws of the men, to minimize visiting their sons and dictating to their daughters-in-law how their home should be run and how to take care of their sons.

“It was done in the past; where wives-to-be had to stay with the mothers of their betrothed to learn the art of properly taking care of them”.

Nana Yaw Oteng is the founder and owner of Oteng Shito Swagger, a popular shito brand on the Ghanaian market.
