Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda, popularly known in the entertainment industry as MzVee, has revealed that she believes the strict parenting style she grew up under made her anti-social, leading to her eventual depression.
Speaking on United Television, the songstress said that in 2018, she had so much going on in her life that caused her to spiral into depression.
She explained;
“My parents were very strict on us while we were growing, so I hardly could share my thoughts and feelings. Because of that, I couldn’t tell anyone about my struggles while I was going through them. I was at the brink of giving up on my music career that I confided in my friend and colleague Richie. At that point my mind had been made up”.
She further narrated how anti-social her strict parents had made her, to the extent that even her mum begun complaining of her acute introversion. “At a point, my mum will say, herrr Vera, I can’t even tell what’s going on with you. Why are you so quiet?”
For the past year the musician had been on break with her career in order to fight the depression. She however assured her fans that all was well with her and she was ready to wow them with new hits.
She released her new single, Sheriff. The lyrics of the song come as reassuring words from the musician to her fans as she has it in the chorus “I’m never giving up; you can’t stop me”
